Half Moon Cave DSC_3507

Half Moon Cave

This is the area of which the pack is named. Half Moon Folly. Situated at the top of a hill, a large semi-circle cut out of it. It is not known how or why that this occurred. The pack find themselves a den in the side of the higher side of the cut out, in the wall of the mountain. A Cave large enough for all to find themselves at home with plenty of room to spread out. (The den is shown on the left side of this picture.)

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

Post by Sailor Mon Oct 01, 2012 2:45 pm

Coming down towards the den, Sailor hummed to himself happily. His tail swinging behind him in tune with the humming. His humming however was interrupted every few seconds for a sneeze, he was having a sneezing attack from the pollen that he had stuck his nose into. 'Oh well' he thought as he continued on happily to the den.

He sat down at the entrance of the cave. And lifted a fore paw to rub his tingly nose. He then shook his silvery pelt and continued to sit waiting on the arrival of the packs members. He let out a tired yawn, even though he had, had a lazier day, he was tired now.

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

Post by Xanthos Mon Oct 01, 2012 3:03 pm

His paws finally on firmer ground, Xanthos let out a murmur of relief. Slowly padding up to the den he heard the reoccurring sneezes from Sailor. He gave a slight chuckle, finding some amusement in so many sneezes at once. Xanthos himself had not paused to 'sniff the roses' on the way down, his main concern having to get down in one piece. He wasn't generally a wolf afraid of heights but when if you placed a paw in the wrong place you could plummet to your death, he was one to be far more careful. For unlike some wolves he was much better suited to forests or flats. Steep areas were a bit more difficult for him.

Entering the cave the pack used for lodgings, Xanthos lay down nearby the lead male, but not too close, liking his personal space. He didn't really understand those who felt like all they could do was touch somewolf, like they wouldn't live if they didn't have some contact. The male shook his head at the thought.

Giving a yawn, he laid his head on his paws, half closing his eyes in rest. "Don't make me go up there again, 'kay?" he told Sailor.

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

Post by Ashoka Mon Oct 01, 2012 3:27 pm

Within the shadows of the den a figure lay half curled up. Upon closer inspection it could be identified as a she-wolf who held a luscious coat made of a glorious mixture of rustic reds and earthen browns all topped off with a strip of chocolate. She was just finishing up grooming this patterned fur when a series of sneezes sounded from outside, her ears immediately perking at the thought someone could be sick. Venturing closer to the entrance, she saw her Lord, Sailor, sitting at the edge of the den sneezing, his presence soon followed by that of Xanthos.

Realising she was thus far unnoticed, Ashoka, for that was her name, crept forward a few more steps before launching herself upwards and forwards, sailing over her leader's head. Landing with a half-thud, a grin spread across her maw as she turned to sit herself opposite the two. It was an unusual display of energy from the she-wolf, but unlike the other two she had not just hiked halfway up the mountain and back. Tilting her head to the side she gave her tail a small wag, content at the observation that her leader was not infected but rather just had pollen up his nose, though she was confused by how tired they looked. "Well now, what's got you two looking so exhausted?"

"Well now, what's got you two looking so exhausted?"

Sailor looked to the voice, it was Ashoka, and it was her shadow that had just flew over his head. His ears flattened and his eyes squinted as he felt another sneeze on its, way, his nose curling preparing for the 'explosion' to hit. But after a few moments the tingling had dispersed, he gave a grin at the female.

"Well Xan's exhausted from just walking up that hill. Me? I've had a lazy day, and one is always tired even when resting all day" he grinned his tail thumped on the ground. He put his head back on his paws and licked his lips. "What has the lass been up to today?" he questioned turning the conversation back to Ashoka.

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

Post by Rhapsody Mon Oct 01, 2012 3:56 pm

The she-wolf trotted alone, weaving in between the trees of the forest along an unmarked path she was somehow, somewhat familiar with. She knew the route she was taking would lead her to the densite of the pack, as she had used it a few times in the past during her patrols. However, with her being the only animal that had taken this route before, it was still far from becoming a clear trail, left behind by her tracks through the partially dense undergrowth.

Rhapsody had already completed her big patrol for the day, and was keen on getting back to the den where she could have an, in her opinion, well-deserved rest. For a specific reason she had forgotten, the dark-furred female had decided that she would run for the most part of her patrol, most likely deciding that it'd be a nice change in the usual stroll she took around the woods. Only afterwards did she realise that a running-patrol would clearly never count as a 'nice change', as the distance she had decided to sprint was clearly more than her scarred leg could handle, and she was still feeling the pain it caused her as she continued to make her way back to the den.

The Sentry's eyes lit up as she finally caught sight of the pack's den, causing a slight smile to appear on her face just before it was caught off by a large, yet quiet yawn by the female. Only when she had reached the den did the wolf notice how tired she actually was, as her eyelids began to feel a bit heavy while her eyes had already begun to water slightly. With a slightly smaller yawn than her previous one, Rhapsody entered the den and looked around. Inside, she could see another three wolves she knew to be her packmates, one of them being the Lord. With a groggy smile, the she-wolf strolled over to one of the darkest portions of the den and curled up against the wall. "Don't mind me," she mumbled to the wolves. Rhapsody waited to fall asleep, hoping to slip in a decent nap, at least.

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

Post by Ashoka Mon Oct 01, 2012 4:08 pm

Ashoka barely contained a laugh as Sailor's nose crinkled up as she could only assume he was being threatened with a sneeze. "Well Xan's exhausted from just walking up that hill. Me? I've had a lazy day, and one is always tired even when resting all day" he grinned his tail thumped on the ground. He put his head back on his paws and licked his lips. "What has the lass been up to today?" She nodded along in agreement with his statement that one can be tired even after resting all day. She herself loved lazy days, though she wasn't fortunate enough to have had one that morning.

"I myself have been scouting the woods to find where all the herbs are hidden in this place, I think I've just about mapped out the entire place, especially for quinine, red clover, feverfew and-" she paused half-way through her list as she realised that he might not know what she was talking about, let alone care for what herbs she had discovered. Lifting a hind leg to scratch behind her ear she just smiled, "And a whole bunch of other stuff. I think I may have even spotted a few signs of other wolves in the territory." Ashoka had never really learned the importance of jumping into action at the first sign of a stranger in the territory and she made the comment as nonchalantly as if she were talking about the weather, still smiling as she relieved the itch behind her ear.

Ears perking, she straightened as their sentry, Rhapsody, returned from a patrol, the female greeting her with a warm smile but no words as the female seemed rather keen to just rest.

Post by Mello Mon Oct 01, 2012 11:54 pm

Mello walked towards the den, following the scents of the other wolves. He felt extremely tired today. The male emerged from the trees and to the den site, feeling slightly nervous around the others. He settled down near the entrance to the den, curling in a loose ball, still fairly alert.
He wondered if Never was doing alright, and where Llry was. Mello kept a sneer to himself at the thought of his brother before placing his slender muzzle on top of his crossed paws. Slowly he closed his eyes with a sigh, resting.

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

Post by Quill Tue Oct 02, 2012 1:19 am

Quill stretched her legs out in front of her, sighing restlessly. She scratched behind her ear, irritated by the leaf that tickled her little tufts of fur, and glanced up at the sky with a vacant expression showing in her gaze. Her ears drooped slightly, as she was exhausted. But other than that, she tried not to let it show. She glanced over her shoulder at her packmates, relieved that she wasn't alone. She felt a sort of warm emotion every time she thought about them, and felt, even though most of the others were younger than her, as though she were the pup of the group. She managed a small half-grin before lying down.

Mello opened his eyes, alerted by the shuffling sounds of Quill. His gaze traveled to her for a few seconds before flicking his large ears and returning his eyes to the ground. He sighed once more, feeling his thoughts wander off into nothingness. Feeling a little anxious the skinny male sat up and scratched at his neck in an effort to hide it. Mello then laid himself back down.

Quill's ears perked as she caught a glimpse, out of the corner of her narrowed eye, of Mello scratching his neck. She lifted her chin from the ground when he returned to his lying position.
She didn't keep her eyes on him very long, as she could sense his level of anxiety. Quill herself was too tired to feel uncomfortable in a crowd. She placed her chin on the ground once again, in between her sprawled out forelegs. Her eyes fluttered as a cool breeze stirred the fur on her face, and she inhaled deeply to take in the sweet forest air.

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

The male kept a steady pace as he neared the pack's densite. With him, he carried the knowledge of where a herd of elk grazed. As he came up to the entrance of the Half Moon Cave, he was relieved to hear the familiar voice of Ashoka.
"And a whole bunch of other stuff. I think I may have even spotted a few signs of other wolves in the territory."
Luke paused a few good metres away from where the pack was probably relaxing. How odd was it that Ashoka had spotted other wolves, and not he? He shrugged the thought off, realising it was stupid, for she was the Shaman who spent most of her days out gathering herbs.
Continuing his brisk trot, he slid into the cave, aware of how many other packmates were here. Arching his back, he lunged forward and stretched his massive paws with a yawn, before getting into a comfortable position; which was in fact, sitting calmly with his tail placed lightly by his side. His light brown gaze was dropped straight onto Sailor's as he wondered if it was his turn to speak or not, and let them all know of the prey which hid not far off. Luke kept a neutral expression, taking into consideration that most of his pack-mates would be exhausted from the days work.

When everything grew dull to her, Quill forced herself from the ground and trudged off into the trees. She felt as though she should be alone for now, and get a night shift of sentry duty in if she could. She dragged herself tiredly through the forest until she came across her designated standing spot.

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

Post by Xanthos Wed Oct 03, 2012 9:39 am

Hearing the sound of a wolf landing nearby, Xanthos peeked open his eyes. It was their shaman, Ashoka, asking why they looked so exhausted. He let Sailor answer. To be honest he'd had a lazy day too except for that hill climb. That by itself wasted far more energy than he had used in previous days with his quick walks around the territory, ones where he never travelled far.

Xanthos gave an involuntary yawn as the female started spouting off all that it was that she had done that day. It sounded like so much more work than he ever did, sometimes even when asked. He spotted Rhapsody come in and go off to sleep. She looked tired. Doing more work than what is required does that to a wolf, he grinned to himself.

Glancing around he noticed that Mello had just arrived and Quill had already been in the cave. Luke also soon to arrived, positioning himself nearby.

Xanthos' mind began to wander, thinking about eating a pleasant meal, one where he could stuff himself silly and sleep afterward. Yes, he would enjoy that very much. His mouth began to water, some dribble overflowing down his chin. Suddenly realising what he was doing, the male licked his lips, wiping the rest off with the pack of his paw. His ears tilted back with embarrassment, hoping no one had noticed his salivary display.

Half Moon Cave Sailor3

Sailor looked to the arrival of Rhapsody. He gave a small smile and a nod to the bi-coloured eyed female. He turned back to Ashoka as she replied with a mixture of herbs and things used to make remedies. The male was tired, he wasn't paying too much attention to detail as what he would normally do.

He looked as Mello was next back to the den. Stretching out his paws, and scoring the ground with his longer claws. He rolled onto his side with a flop. Humming to himself as he looked to the sky. He decided it best that he finally answer Ash's question. "Let them come Ash, They will know where here, and we know their here. So let them come..."

He caught the slobbery display from Xanthos, the male must of been thinking about food, again. Sailor gave a small chuckle. Was that all the male thought about? Eat and sleep? Sailor gave a yawn, and put his head down to sleep and closed his eyes, tightly, before he relaxed. The night began to fall into darkness, and the wolves relaxed and went to sleep.

Frowning slightly, Luke made his way past Sailor, somewhat irritated that he hadn't taken any notice of him. His loss, the adult wolf concluded.
He slumped down a good few feet away from the sleepy Rhap, pawing his ears a couple times before resting his head against the chilly floor. He could always tell the Lord of his news tomorrow, that was, if the herd hadn't moved overnight.
Luke kept a bright gaze on Rhapsody and her curled up body. At least she had done some work for the pack today, perhaps even more than she needed.
The male pulled his brown tail to his side, slipping into a brief sleep.

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

Post by Ashoka Thu Oct 04, 2012 6:36 am

Ashoka smiled warmly to all those in the pack, her tail thumping the ground a few times in sign of her bliss. She was a family wolf, no doubt, and to see all those who she was coming to accept as family relaxing so peacefully around her was pleasing. With the smile still plastered on her features she nodded to Sailor as he commented there was no need to worry about the strangers she thought she had scented and she had no plans to. All others around her seemed to fall into the welcoming arms of sleep, but though she was not an energetic wolf per sey, she had no intentions to sleep at that moment.

Checking over them all once to be sure they had found comfortable positions and had no needs to be met, Ashoka noticed that two of their members weren't present. She had noticed Quill heading up to Skybound Watch earlier and the female had seemed fine. Silver, however, she had not seen all day, though she could take a guess that the female was practising her combat skills as usual.

Deciding to go and check on her, the earthen-toned wolf turned and quickly trotted toward Greenspring Hollow.

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

Post by Rhapsody Fri Oct 05, 2012 2:56 pm

Rhapsody opened her eyes slowly as she awoke from her slumber. She didn't know how long she'd been out for, but by the time she had woken up, she noticed one wolf that wasn't there before. It was that guardian, Luke was his name. He seemed to be resting, so Rhap decided not to try start up a conversation with him at that point in time. Instead, she sat up, still quite sleepy, and looked around the den. Ashoka appeared to be missing, for some reason, but Rhap was too tired to be thinking of why.

With a small sigh, the wolf turned around slightly and began to lick her scars, not knowing what else to do. She was the slightest bit hungry, but she didn't want to bother anyone or leave the den just yet, preferring to give herself some more time to completely wake up, and then relax before she did anything else. She yawned quietly as she waited.

Post by Mello Fri Oct 05, 2012 8:59 pm

Mello woke from his sleep, a little tired. He wondered if he should hunt now. Deciding he would, he stood up. To be sure of where he should do so, he walked up to Sailor. "Excuse me, is there any specific place you would want me to hunt?" he asked, a little unsure of himself. Mello hoped he was doing the right thing by asking first.

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

Post by Crisis Sat Oct 06, 2012 12:34 am

Crisis cautiously walked closer towards what seemed to be the pack's den. She had been watching them for a good few days now, and she figured that now was the time to make her presence known.
Her paws padded on the soft, lush grass as she sneakily made her way up the slope, towards the arched rock. She was surprised to find she was rather nervous, and she swallowed anxiously. She could see the wolves now; some were awake, though most seemed to be asleep......seemed, that is.
Taking a hesitant step forward, the female came into view. Although her tail and stature showed anxiety, there was a sort of hardness in her eyes. Her muscles were tense; ready to run if they showed any aggressive behaviour. Crisis was more flight than fight.
The female coughed, the sound louder than she had expected. "I gather you are the pack which lives in this area?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. Her blue eyes glanced around, and she swished her tail upon the earth.

Mello's attention swerved to the strange voice. He looked at the unknown female, taking note that she was trying to hide her nervousness. He wagged his tail slightly to give her a signal that he meant no harm, although he was unsure about the rest of the pack's views on her. Mello seated himself, curling his tail around his front paws.

Continuing along, Melloette soon discovered where it was that she would be meeting the bulk of the pack. Peeking into the area, she let out a curious, "Hello?"

Sitting down, Melloette waited. She anticipated the wolves that she was about to meet, and wondered if her sister was among them. Thinking of Circe, Melloette began to wonder what sorts of tales had extended to other packs about the things that had happened with her birth pack. They hadn't been that important, but she knew too well how well a wolf liked her gossip, even if she didn't know who it was about. I hope they aren't crazy! she thought, sparing a startled look toward the area that seemed to be the den of the pack.

Wondering if this was a good idea, Crisis looked at the stranger before her (Mello). In brief glances, she looked him up and down, before twitching her tail to indicate she meant no harm also. He didn't seem to be that bothered by her appearance - which, she figured, was a good sign.
No one else seemed to have noticed her yet, the wolf in charge was still no where to be seen. Unless this male was the wolf in charge, of course.
She swallowed again, feeling the dryness of her throat.

"Hello?"

Crisis started, turning around to face the source of the utterance. There was another female, who seemed to have arrived at the same time as her. Crisis relaxed a little - if other wolves were willing to join this pack, she must be doing the right thing.....

Quill inched her way back into the pack territory, being as nimble as possible, though there was no need to be. She stood up straight when she could see and hear the others, but stopped in her tracks and tilted her head to the side when she noticed that a few of the wolves here were new strangers. A slight blanket of anxiety covered her, and she scanned her surroundings urgently for a familiar face. She stopped her eyes on Mello and tried to relax.

Half Moon Cave Empty Re: Half Moon Cave

Post by Rhapsody Sun Oct 07, 2012 5:15 am

Rhapsody's ears picked up on the sound of wolves approaching, waking her up completely and forcing her to become alert once more. She sniffed the air in front of her a few times and picked up a few unfamiliar scents. It seemed as if there were at least two new wolves nearby that she hadn't met before. With a tilt of her head, the wolf pondered what her next action would be. There were plenty of members in the den that could each deal with these newcomers in their own way, and even more importantly, the Lord was there too. She felt as if it wasn't her duty to step up and talk to these strangers, as there were a couple of other members that could be doing that themselves.

Rhapsody's eyes drifted to the male snoozing not too far away from where she was. Luke was a Guardian, so it may be wise to wake him up just in case these newcomers caused some trouble. However, she doubted that there would be any, considering they were quite outnumbered. Regardless, she decided that she would wake the male, she may as well not let him miss out on the arrival of two strangers.

The female took a small step towards Luke and watched him for a few moments. It looked like he was still sleeping, so she continued forward and bent over slightly, before nudging his neck gently with her nose. "Psst, you should probably wake up," she said quietly, not wanting to wake him up too abruptly.
